Are Your Skin and Bath Products Making you Sick

Posted by on

Are you using clean bath products? Our bathrooms are one of our top places for exposures to toxic chemicals. Products such as soap, shampoos, face washes... etc. are loaded with them.

Chemicals such as formaldehyde, nitrates, parabens, BHA, artificial colors and much more. Many of these substances have shown to have dramatic health risks ranging from immune reactions to cancer. In fact, the EWG has shown 17 out of 28 products have formaldehyde or dioxin in them. Both of these chemicals have been shown to be cancer forming.

Even “safe” child products such as Johnson's Baby Shampoo, Sesame Street Bubble Bath, Grins & Giggles Milk & Honey Baby Wash and Huggies Naturally Refreshing Cucumber have shown to have formaldehyde in them. Scary to think brands that are marketing to be “safe” for our kids have the ability to add these toxic ingredients.

So, what to do? Well, best is to start with looking at the ingredients. You should use soaps, conditioners, etc. that have ingredients that you are familiar with. However, this can still be overwhelming for so many people. Resources such as @thinkdirty and @environmentalworkinggroup all you to search products on their platforms which allows quick and easy information on the products safety.

I like to use products by @lanaturamade in Los Angeles with whole natural and non-toxic ingredients.
